| The Mandy Ellen School of Dance was established over ten years ago, with small classes being taught at local venues in and around Maidstone
Since moving to our purpose built studios in the heart of Maidstone's artist quarter our pupil numbers have risen from 50 to 400, making us one of the largest dance schools in Maidstone, whilst still maintaining our reputation of being a family friendly school, encouraging our students aged 3 to 63 to learn new skills
Each year we pride ourselves on expanding our course syllabus to ensure we meet the needs of our pupils. In 2008 we formed our Hip Hop crews when we competed in our first regional competition and came 3rd. Our Hip Hop crews are constantly increasing and we have now over 50 boys ranging from ages 5 to 20 along with our Girls Hip Hop crew.
We have also formed a cheer squad called the 'Maidstone Gems' where we compete in the Regional Competitions held in Brighton. In 2008 we were lucky enough to achieve a 2nd place in the competition and this year , we successfully came 1st and 4th which was an amazing achievement.
All of our students are given the opportunity to take part in various shows the Dance School puts on at the Hazlitt Theatre in Maidstone and the Central Theatre in Chatham. This gives all the students the opportunity to showcase their work they achieve in the classes.
Dance tours remain a firm favourite of our pupils having danced in Italy, France, Spain, New York and most recently in 2009, Branson, Missouri America. This is a wonderful opportunity for some of the pupils and gives them extra confidence in performing. Mandy Ellen School of Dance also fundraises for our local charity, Heart of Kent Hospice, and in 2008 the dancers presented a 'Memories' charity show at Mote Hall in Maidstone and we are looking to perform again this year. Some of the performers were lucky enough to reach the Live Semi Finals of Britains Got Talent on ITV1 in 2008 and 2009 which is such a fabulous achievement. We do offer outstanding pupils the opportunity to compete in competitions such as these as well as local and regional dance competitions. We have four studios at our Earl Street building and we teach every evening after school and all day Saturdays...please click here to see some of our studio and class pictures |
